What to expect
At Steps to Serenity Counseling, the first three sessions after your intake are designed to set a strong foundation for our work together. During the intake, we gather a comprehensive picture of your life, history, and current challenges. From there, our initial sessions will focus on three key areas: understanding, exploration, and direction.
Session One – Understanding Your Story:
We begin by deepening our understanding of your presenting concerns, mental health history, and life context. Drawing from existential therapy, we will explore not only the challenges you face but also how you find meaning in them. This helps clarify the patterns and experiences that shape your current struggles.
Session Two – Exploring Inner Experience:
Using Jungian psychology, we begin to explore the deeper layers of your inner world—your values, archetypal patterns, and the unconscious influences that may be shaping your behaviors and emotions. This session often involves reflection and curiosity about dreams, symbols, or recurring themes in your life.
Session Three – Clarifying Direction and Building Skills:
In our third session, we begin integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Here, we focus on how you relate to your thoughts and feelings, introducing strategies that help you create space from difficult experiences while moving toward what matters most in your life. Together, we clarify values and begin identifying small, meaningful steps forward.
Throughout these sessions, my goal is to create a therapeutic alliance built on trust, collaboration, and safety. By the end of the third session, you can expect to have a clearer understanding of your struggles, greater insight into your inner world, and the beginnings of practical strategies to guide your path toward healing.
